Facilitating strategic planning for peace

CCIVS promotion Cecilia co-designed and co-facilitated strategic planning sessions  oriented to  increase the reach and impact of the Coordinating Committee  for  International Voluntary Service (CCIVS) -a global membership organisation promoting peace and mutual understanding with more than 180 members in all continents and created under the aegis of UNESCO.

The sessions were attended by a group of selected Executive Directors and leaders of the global network. They were specially invited to support the internal change process oriented towards growth and sustainability. The workshop was composed of participatory and interactive reflective and decision-making oriented exercises and concluded with agreed initial ideas which may form part of the new CCIVS strategic plan. The results will be shared and further discussed with CCIVS Executive Committee  in the coming months and approved during the General Assembly and Conference to be held in Morocco in November 2016.

Founded in 1948, CCIVS is an International Non-Governmental Organisation (INGO) promotes peace education through International Voluntary Service (IVS). CCIVS is a coordinating body  with more than 180 members in 80+ countries, including 2 international networks and several regional structures and platforms. It acts as a link to establish relations between the members and international institutions such as the EU, different UN agencies or foundations.

CCIVS’ network main focus is the quest to achieve ‘change in the minds of men’ by bringing together people of different backgrounds.  It supports and develops projects based on the idea that working together on a community project is an effective way of creating international friendship and understanding.

Facilitators together Cecilia co-diseñó y co-facilitó sesiones de planificación estratégica  orientadas a aumentar el alcance y el impacto del Comité de  Coordinación del Servicio Voluntario Internacional (CCIVS) -una  organización global que promueve la paz y el entendimiento mutuo con mas de 180 miembros en todos los  continentes y creada bajo los auspicios de la  UNESCO.

Un grupo selecto de directores y líderes de la red global fue especialmente invitado a formar parte de las sesiones, de modo de apoyar el proceso de cambio interno orientado hacia el crecimiento y la sostenibilidad.

El taller se compuso de ejercicios interactivos orientados reflexión y de toma de decisiones participativa y concluyó con el desarrollo de ideas iniciales que formarían parte del nuevo plan estratégico. Las ideas y resultados serán compartidos y discutidos con más miembros del Comité Ejecutivo del CCIVS en los próximos meses y aprobados en la Asamblea y Conferencia General que se celebrará en Marruecos en noviembre de 2016.

CCIVS fue fundada en 1948. Es una organización internacional no gubernamental (ONG) dedicada a la promover la educacion para la paz a través del Servicio Voluntario Internacional (SVI). CCIVS es un órgano de coordinación con más de 180 miembros en más de 80 países, entre ellos 2 redes internacionales y varias estructuras y plataformas regionales. Actúa como un enlace para establecer las relaciones entre los miembros y las instituciones internacionales como la Unión Europea, diferentes agencias de la ONU o fundaciones.

El principal objetivo de los miembros de la red de CCIVS es la búsqueda del “cambio en las mentes de los hombres”, reuniendo a personas de diferentes orígenes. Apoya y desarrolla proyectos basados ​​en la idea de que trabajar juntos en un proyecto comunitario es una forma efectiva de crear capacidades para el dialogo y el entendimiento internacional.
